Mr. Mohamed D. Butt, MH
Mohamed Butt serves as the Executive Director of Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), where he leads a team of experts dedicated to driving technological innovation, particularly in the areas of manufacturing technology in the Greater Bay Area. Under his leadership, the organisation is focused on a number of key areas, including new industrialisation, intelligent manufacturing, green and smart living, FutureSkills, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and support for SMEs and startups.
Mohamed is committed to enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness and aligning with the SAR Government’s vision to establish the city as a leading international centre for innovation and technology.
Mohamed has generous knowledge in infrastructure, industrial and consumer sectors. Prior to joining HKPC, he spearheaded large transformational projects involving private-public sector collaboration, most of which featured digital transformation and localisation. He had worked for General Electric (GE) for over two decades, where he held various senior management positions, including President and CEO of GE’s Transportation Business in the Asia Pacific region, and provided strategic leadership to expand the company’s business footprints with sterling results. Before such roles, he also served as President and CEO of GE Lighting Asia and GE Security Asia respectively. With his extensive experience in the field, he is poised to lead HKPC towards achieving its goals and making a significant impact on the technological landscape of the region.
Mohamed was brought up in Hong Kong and graduated from Winona State University, Minnesota in the US with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He received his Master in Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
