(1) 7:00pm – “”NAMI electrocaloric materials for high-efficiency electronic cooling and refrigeration”
– by Dr. Liam Zhao, Senior Engineer of Nano and Advanced Materials Institute
[Abstract]: Traditional vapor compression-based refrigeration is often associated with environmental impact of the refrigerants and the thermoelectric cooler (TEC) that is commonly used in electronic cooling suffers from extremely low efficiency. To find a solution for both environmental and efficiency issues, electrocaloric refrigeration (ER) has been brought under the spotlight. As an eco-friendly emerging technique, ER’s main innovation consists in high energy efficiency and employing solid materials as refrigerant, instead of the fluids that used in vapor compression systems. NAMI’s mission is to develop novel electrocaloric materials with remarkable electrocalroic effect, high reliability and low cost to satisfy the requirements of practical refrigeration and cooling applications.
[Bio]: Dr. Liam Zhao is a senior engineer of NAMI Electronics sector, working on novel thermal-related electronic materials and new technologies of thermal management. Prior to joining NAMI in July 2020, Liam was first a PhD candidate, then a postdoctoral researcher in MAE department, HKUST, working on multifunctional composites based on 2D materials. After joining NAMI, Liam was mainly involved in thermal interface material (TIM) development and has won several international science and technology awards, including R&D100 and Geneva.
(2) 7:20pm – ““Light-weight adaptive IoT Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDS/IPS) enabled by AI”
– by Mr. Ricky LEUNG, Deputy Director of Trust and AI Technologies, ASTRI’
[Bio]: Ricky LEUNG is the R&D leader of the cyber security team in ASTRI. He initiated various cybersecurity and blockchain related projects with various government departments and private organizations in the fields of threat intelligence hunting and analysis, intrusion detection and prevention, malware analysis, credential sharing and privacy preserving, trusted traceability & tracking, and sustainable development.
Before entering ASTRI, he was working in Logistics and Supply Chain Multitech R&D Centre (LSCM) and Infotronic Technology Ltd. for emerging smart logistics, robotics and construction technologies. Furthermore, he co-founded and managed an technology company for over 20 years with various leading technologies. He was graduated in MPhil. of Computer Science in HKUST and BSc.(Hon) of Information Technology in City University of HK.
